We all need mentors. That’s obvious. Whether we find ones in the pages of a book, through an inspiring talk, or face to face…..but a question as equally as important as “What are you learning?” is this:
Who are you learning from?
I’ve heard Jeff Henderson say once that:
“What and who you listen to….is a preview of the future you.”
Sobering thought, huh? A good litmus test is to look at the life of the person you’re considering taking on as a mentor, and ask, “Do I want my life to look like theirs?”
If the answer’s no, then head for the hills. But if it’s “Yes?” You’ve found a mentor worth pursuing. I know there’s some people you just *have* to hang around because of work / life situation….I get that. But, can you imagine what your life would look like in just 3 years if you intentionally surrounded yourself with people who *already are* where you *want to be?* What would your life look like?
